A penguin is a bird. It has black and white feathers, like wearing a tiny suit. It cannot fly, but it can swim super fast! Penguins eat fish, tiny shrimp called krill, and squid. They catch food in the ocean.
Most penguins live at the bottom half of the Earth, called the Southern Hemisphere. Some live on the cold ice of Antarctica, and some live on warmer sandy beaches.
On land they waddle like they are dancing. On snow they slide on their bellies—whoosh! In water they use their wings like flippers to zoom around.
They live in big groups called colonies. Mommy and Daddy penguin take turns keeping the egg warm. When the baby chick hatches, they feed it together.
The tallest penguin, the Emperor, is about as tall as your dad! The smallest, the Little Blue, is only about the size of a stuffed toy.
Penguins are black-and-white birds, they are very cute! Today's drawing tutorial will guide us step by step through creating a cartoon penguin. He wears a top hat, a suit, and a tie, looking every bit the little gentleman—I think everyone will love him!
