Look at this snake! It is called a cobra. Cobras are very special snakes. They are also very famous because they look so dramatic and interesting.
The cobra is sitting with its body all coiled up. Its body is curled into a big, tight circle. When a snake coils up like this, it is ready to do something.
Its head is lifted high up in the air. It is looking straight ahead — right at you. The cobra is paying very close attention to what you are doing. Its tail is lifted up too. The tip of the tail is pointing up, like a little flag. It is part of the cobra's proud, alert posture.

On the sides of its head, the cobra has a hood. When a cobra is scared or angry, it spreads out its neck. The hood opens up like a pair of wings or a cape. It makes the cobra look much bigger and scarier.
Look at its eyes. They are like the crescent moon you see on Halloween night — thin and curved. They look very focused and serious.
Its mouth is wide open. Inside the mouth, you can see two long, sharp fangs. Fangs are special teeth that some snakes use to bite. In today's step-by-step tutorial, we'll learn how to draw this terrifying cobra!
