Let me tell you about a brave young man named Ashitaka. He is the hero of the beautiful cartoon movie Princess Mononoke. Ashitaka is a prince of a small, ancient tribe called the Emishi people. He is strong, kind, and very brave.

One day, a giant boar god turned into a terrible demon and attacked Ashitaka's village. Ashitaka bravely fought the demon to protect his people, but he was wounded by the demon's curse.

The curse left a purple, worm-like mark on his arm. It gave him super strength, but it was slowly killing him. Because of the curse, Ashitaka had to leave his village forever. He cut off his long hair as a sign that he was no longer their prince.

Ashitaka is very kind and calm. He does not want to fight or hurt anyone. He only fights when he has no choice. His most important rule is to "see with eyes unclouded by hate". That means he tries to understand both sides of a fight, even when everyone is angry. He wants people and nature to live in peace.

Even though the curse sometimes made him angry, Ashitaka always tried to stay gentle and do the right thing.
