Let me tell you about a brave girl named San. She is from a beautiful, exciting cartoon movie called Princess Mononoke. San is not a regular girl. She was raised by wolf gods in a deep, magical forest. She thinks of the wolves as her real family. She is wild, strong, and very fierce!

Most of the time, San wears a wolf pelt on her back – like a furry cape. It makes her look like part of the wolf pack. She also wears a white mask on her face – like a scary animal face. She wears it when she fights, so her enemies get frightened!

And she carries a long, sharp spear – like a big stick with a pointy tip. She uses it to protect the forest.

San hates humans – at least at first. Why? Because many humans cut down trees, dig up the ground, and hurt the animals. They destroy her forest home. So San fights them. She wears her mask, holds her spear high, and shouts loudly. She is like a warrior princess of the wild!

But something changes...A human boy named Ashitaka comes to the forest. He is kind and brave. He does not want to hurt the forest. He wants to help both humans and animals. One day, San is hurt, and Ashitaka saves her life.
