A fly is a very small bug. It has two wings, two big eyes and six tiny legs. Many people say, “Shoo, fly!” because flies like to come inside our homes.
Flies love trash cans, old food, and anything smelly. They land on these things to eat. When a fly lands on your sandwich, it can bring germs with it. That is why we cover our food and keep our rooms clean.
A fly can beat its wings about 200 times in one second! This helps it zoom away when you try to catch it. Flies also taste with their feet. When a fly walks on something, it quickly knows if it is yummy or not.
Baby flies are called maggots. They look like tiny white worms. Maggots hatch from eggs in old food or garbage. After some days, each maggot grows into a new fly.
Flies are part of nature, but we should keep our food and homes clean so flies don’t spread germs.
