Imagine a small, open cart with two tall wheels. It was made of wood and a little bronze. Two fast horses pulled it. A strong soldier stood with a bow or a spear.
It was the “race car” of long-ago wars. It could rush in, shoot arrows, and rush out. It scared people who had never seen wheels before. Kings liked to ride it to show, “I am the boss.”
It needed flat ground, like desert or plain. In Egypt, Mesopotamia, and China the land was good, so chariots worked well. In mountains or thick forest it was too bumpy.

How it changed? First, people used donkeys. Then they learned to breed strong horses and make light wheels. Later, men on horseback (cavalry) became quicker, so chariots slowly went away.
The old word for chariot is “car.” Our cars today still carry the same name!
In today's drawing tutorial, we'll learn how to draw an ancient chariot. A soldier stands inside, seemingly engaged in battle!
